Chritsmas in Europe!
Christmas is an annual holiday characterized chiefly as a
time for getting together with one´s family,spreading goodwill,
feasting,an exchanging presents. Christmas combines the
celebration of Jesus´s birth with various traditions and customs
such as Yule (pagan scandinavian in Northern Europe),
Saturnalia (in Italy).
Christmas traditions include the display of Nativity scenes and
Christmas trees,the exchange of gifts and cards,and the arrival of
Father Christmas (Santa Claus) on Christmas Eve.
Christmas Day always falls on December 25 th. It is preceded
by Christmas Eve on December 24, and in some countries,such
as Great Britain and Canada, is followed by Boxing Day on
December 26.
Christmas is celebrated in most countriest around the world,owing
to the spread of Christianity and Western culture. In many
countries,business,schools and communities have
Christmas parties and dances in the weeks
before Christmas.
Christmas pageants may visit neighborhood homes to sing
carols.Others do volunteer work or hold fundraising drives
for charities.Another traditions is to send cards to
their friends and family members with the
phrase: "Merry Christmas".
